Visit with Key Stakeholders to the Zona Nord project
Following the Educational Zones Conference on June 2, a field visit to the Zona Nord pilot project in Barcelona offered key stakeholders the opportunity to see how the shared accountability and corresponsibility principles discussed can be translated into practice. The visit brought together international guests and speakers, along with inspectors, teachers’ associations, local policymakers, and school representatives, who engaged directly with the local actors driving the pilot.
Through on-site discussions, participants explored how the Zona Educativa Nord fosters collaboration among schools and community services in one of Barcelona’s most socially complex areas. The visit featured the voices of those leading its implementation—including school principals, inclusion staff, pedagogical advisors, and local education authorities—and shed light on both the potential and challenges of developing territorially grounded education policies where school improvement, inclusion, and community engagement converge.
